Winter Fairy Tale of Lapland
You can feel a real winter fairy tale by going on a trip to Finland, namely to its northern part beyond the Arctic Circle. Pure nature, snow-white mountains, small villages of Lapland create a serene idyllic atmosphere of this polar region.
Active winter holidays attract crowds of tourists here, especially from Russia. It is good to settle in a cozy log cabin with a fireplace and sauna and spend quiet evenings here after skiing in one of the ski centers. The most popular ski resorts are Yllas, Levi, Ruka and Saariselka.
After a few days of active recreation, you can spend time riding in reindeer sleds and snowmobiles through the endless snowy expanses, stopping in specially prepared huts for heating, where you can fry sausages and drink hot coffee. You can also visit a sheep farm or go horse riding. Fishing enthusiasts can go ice fishing.
Not far from the town of Rovaniemi is the famous village of Santa Claus, Finnish Yolulupukki. This is one of the most visited places in Finland. Not only children, but also adults will like it here.
Santa’s residence itself, the main post office and a deer farm are located in the village. Christmas cards, postage stamps and numerous souvenirs of Lapland can be purchased at the Central Post Office.
Well, if you want to visit the exotic, then you should settle in one of the glass igloo or snow house in the Village of Igloo in the north of Lapland and watch the northern lights directly from your house.
