Getting to Cortina d’Ampezzo is easy on a rented car, as long as you follow these simple steps. First, rent a car in Milan or Venice (or any other city) and drive along the Autostrada del Sole towards Lake Garda. But when in Milan, you are strongly recommended to stay there for at least a day in a cozy hotel in Milan and take a trip around the city. Once you’ve reached the lake, head towards Riva del Garda and take the SS51 road to Monte Cavallo Pass. From there it’s just a short drive until you’re in Cortina d’Ampezzo!

Kronplatz: Italian Alps Skiing
Kronplatz is the largest ski area in South Tyrol, with a total of 116 lifts and runs that cater to skiers of all abilities. It’s also known for its variety: there are many slopes for beginners, but also some challenging ones.
The resort has three different areas: “Sella Ronda” with 55 km (34 miles) of pistes; “Plan de Corones” with 31 km (19 miles) of pistes; and “Cima Tosa” with 22 km (14 miles). This is perfect for those looking for something new each day!

It’s also great if you have kids–there are plenty of activities to keep them occupied as well as ski school options for those who need a little help getting down the hill safely. The town has some nice restaurants and bars where you can relax after your day on the slopes or in between runs with friends.
One thing we really love about Corvara is how many activities there are off-slope! You can hike through the mountainside or go ice skating at one of their four rinks (two indoors). If those aren’t enough options, there are also horseback riding tours available year-round–and even dog sledding during winter months!

Plus, it’s close enough that you can get there from Milan or Turin in just under four hours by car or train!

The Dolomite mountain range offers beautiful scenery and challenging terrain, while Madonna di Campiglio has luxury amenities in addition to excellent snow conditions. If you’re looking for something more affordable or family-friendly then we recommend Corvara or Livigno as options as well!
